A Career Dedicated to Innovation and Accessibility in Medical Education
I have always seen myself as someone who learns, experiments, and creates. This passion began with my medical education at Hacettepe University’s English Medical Program and evolved further as I completed my pediatrics training at Gazi University and my neonatology specialization at Turgut Özal University. Following mandatory service and private sector experience in Ankara, I directed my career toward academia with the goal of sharing my knowledge and experiences with broader audiences.
Today, with over 40 published articles in international journals and more than 100 citations (h-index: 17, i10-index: 23), I have established an active presence in the scientific community. Over the past six years, I have been part of the founding team of the R-SIM Simulation Center at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University Faculty of Medicine. Since its establishment in 2018, I have taken on key roles in management, R&D, quality processes, and education. The experiences I have gained through this center have propelled me further into the fields of medical education and simulation technologies.
In 2023-2024, I undertook a Neonatology Fellowship at the University of Toronto in Canada, where I also had the opportunity to observe simulation practices at their simulation center for a month. Additionally, I advanced my skills in POCUS (point-of-care ultrasound).
SimClever and New Horizons in Simulation-Based Education
I have participated in numerous national and international medical simulation training programs, which allowed me to closely observe key deficiencies in the field. In response, we launched our innovative startup in 2020 with the support of TÜBİTAK 1512 BİGG, pioneering one of Turkey’s most forward-thinking projects. At ITU Big Bang 2020, our startup was selected among the top 20 most successful initiatives in Turkey, solidifying our position as a leader in simulation-based medical education.
